BLACKSMITHING LEVEL 1: HAND FORGING
In this semi-private workshop (max of 4 people) you will be introduced to classic blacksmithing techniques and best practices while working side by side with our expert instructor.
This introductory blacksmithing course is focused on hand-forging techniques. Students will explore some of the basic forging processes such as drawing, twisting, scrolling, upsetting, punching, and drifting.
During the class, students will forge a bottle opener and a variety of basic hooks and, time permitting, other simple projects of their choice.
After completing this course, students may move onto our Level 2 Power Forging and Level 3 Bladesmithing classes!
BLACKSMITHING LEVEL 2: POWER FORGING
In this level 2 course, students will continue their journey in blacksmithing by introducing power forging equipment and more modern day techniques to their skill set.
While reinforcing skills learned in the first introductory course, additional instruction will be given in the safe operation of the power hammers and the hydraulic press to forge a pair of tongs in a V-bit style or another similar form of their choice.
BLACKSMITHING LEVEL 3: BLADESMITHING
In this 2 part workshop, each student will forge their very own custom handmade blade! Students may bring their own designs to the class with them but are encouraged to keep their blade design under 10″ total (blade + handle). Materials, both steel for blades and wood for handles, will be provided.
This is a 2-part course that spans over 2, 4 hours sessions. This class is sold as one ticket but includes access for two students.
This class has a prerequisite course. If you are interested in joining this workshop but have not completed our blacksmithing level 1 class, please sign up and complete that course before registering for bladesmithing.
