FAQ

1. Do I need to take a class to use the shop or can I come in and get right to work?

Regardless of experience level, you must complete the appropriate classes to utilize the corresponding machinery. Our safety classes are typically 3 hour, one time events, on average.

2. Can I bring someone with me to work in the shop?

Anyone on the shop floor must have an active membership. You may invite a client or visitor onto the shop floor for a tour after signing our liability waiver.

3. Do you have time limits on machinery?

To avoid the monopolization of one machine we maintain a daily allowance of 2 hours per machine. Typical excess charges beyond the allowances range from $20 – $30 per hour.

We do not have materials onsite. However, local suppliers offer a discount with a Maketory membership. Please ask a member of staff for details.

5. Can I leave items or in progress work on the shop floor?

Any items left at Maketory must be stored in one of our dedicated storage units or private work studios.
